Start Your Day at Center with the Support of Sangha
This is just a note to let you know that our morning virtual meditation group is up and running! We’ve been at it for four days now and look forward to continuing into the distant future.
Each morning I begin meditation with a recitation called “The Daily Recollection”. This recitation, which serves both as a reminder of the fundamental teachings of the Buddha and an opportunity to recommit to practice, is something I have said at the beginning of the first meditation of the day for around twenty-five years now, including the years I spent at the monastery. Folks participating in the sit may recite along with me or just listen in, as they choose. At the end of the meditation each day I offer a short reading. Right now the readings are coming from The Dhammapada, a simple but profound text from the earliest days of Buddhism and one of the most inspiring things I know.
I intend to meditate from 7:00-8:00am Eastern time each weekday, and 8:00-9:00am Eastern on the weekends for the foreseeable future. You are most cordially invited to join in for as much or as little of that time as you would like, during whatever portion that works for you. People come and go during the hour, and we all receive the benefit and support of sitting together in community.
If you are interested in joining in, simply email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let me know. I will then send you the login information you will need.
Thanks, everyone! Take good care of yourselves, and be well. I hope to have the honor of meditating with you soon!
